New Dr. Squatch Ad Crosses The Line
The newest Dr. Squatch “Glide Test” ad campaign has crossed the line with highly suggestive and offensive sexual innuendos. The vulgar commercial features provocatively dressed actress Megan Fox wearing a figure-hugging, all-black leather ensemble. As Head Professor of F.O.X (Foundation for Odor Excellence), she is on a mission to school men about the new Dr. Squatch invisible glide deodorant.
Juvenile in nature, Dr. Squatch has built its brand on irreverent, bold marketing deliberately pitched at young male viewers who respond to humor before natural ingredients.
Providing tips for "stinky" students, the ad begins at the F.O.X. lab with Professor Megan Fox holding a riding crop, describing the latest breakthroughs in deodorizing technology from Dr. Squatch. Fox states, “We encourage men to leave their mark on the world. Not on their shirts. Get out there and live like your deodorant isn’t holding you hostage.”
Each commercial in the ad campaign includes the tagline, Dr. Squatch Deodorant, let your stick do the talking.
This type of advertising is entirely unnecessary. Dr. Squatch has deliberately chosen to produce controversial advertisements instead of wholesome ones. One Million Moms find this highly inappropriate.
Apparently, Dr. Squatch executives do not care about what children hear – despite how damaging and destructive such ads are to our children. Everyone knows kids repeat what they hear. This ad demonstrates weak marketing, and Dr. Squatch should have the corporate responsibility to not use an age-old euphemism that offends families.
Let Dr. Squatch know that, as a parent and a consumer, you are disgusted by its recent irresponsible marketing choices. Dr. Squatch needs to know that parents disapprove!
