Don't Trust Ratings on Netflix!
Urgent warning for all parents!
It is no surprise that Netflix produces questionable content at times. However, parents should still be forewarned about a cartoon with the juvenile title The Amazing Digital Circus.
This animated series features gun violence and mentions sex. Despite containing themes completely unsafe for children, Netflix gives it a TV-PG rating. A PG rating stands for parental guidance, but it is pushing the limit since this show is disturbing for even adults and especially children.
Parents might think that a show rated PG would be suitable for most older children, but that is not the case. Even Gooseworx, the show’s creator, reports that it is not for children nor intended for audiences under the age of 13, specifically targeting young adults in their 20s.
The Amazing Digital Circus series is classified as psychological horror and features mature themes such as existential dread, depression, and trauma that are deemed inappropriate for younger viewers. Regardless, Netflix continues to give a TV-PG rating.
During Season 1 Episode 6, “They All Get Guns,” one can imagine this episode contains gun violence. Still, you wouldn’t expect the cartoon characters to engage in a deadly game similar to Russian Roulette. Characters target and eliminate each other while using a wide variety of real-world, modern firearms.
Murder is the game’s objective as one of the characters declares, “It will be my pleasure to murder all of you.” This is extremely violent for any show, much less a PG-rated cartoon.
If violence is not troubling enough, in this same episode, one character states, “You really wanna know what I want? I want the ability to have sex.”
Children should not be exposed to this inappropriate content, and Netflix seems to be hoping parents are not paying attention. This series will attract children because of the animation, but it is far from kid friendly.
Make no mistake - this is a raunchy, adult cartoon with multiple uses of inappropriate language throughout the episode. However, because it is an animated series with circus in the name, children may be fooled into thinking it is something they would be interested in watching. Parents who don’t do their research might be tricked into thinking it is acceptable for kids.
Families will not be able to allow Netflix in their homes if the streaming platform continues to veer away from family-friendly entertainment and accurate ratings.

Please sign our petition and let Netflix know its decision to promote gun violence and sex to children is irresponsible and disturbing, especially considering the animated series The Amazing Digital Circus has a TV-PG rating. Let’s urge Netflix to stop inappropriate programming targeted to children and cancel this series, especially episode 6, immediately.
